Selena Gomez will replace Miley Cyrus as the voice of Dracula's daughter in the 3D animated film Hotel Transylvania. The film directed by Genndy Tartakovsky additionally features the voices of Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Kevin James, Fran Drescher, David Koechner, Cee Lo Green, Steve Buscemi, Molly Shannon and David Spade.
In the film, Dracula (Adam Sandler), the owner of Hotel Transylvania, a five-star resort for monsters, invites the world's leading monsters to celebrate the 118th birthday of his daughter Mavis (Selena Gomez). The unexpected twist in the plot comes when young Jonathan (Andy Samberg), an ordinary traveler, ends up at the resort and Dracula must prevent Mavis from falling in love with him!
Earlier today, Miley tweeted her reason for opting out of the film. "I really wanna work on my music this year! That's all :)"Quite the reverse, Gomez wants to focus on films this year.
Early in January she said, "We're going to take a break from music. My band and and I are going to chill on that for a second. I'll be doing two films in the beginning of [2012], which I'm excited about. They are both different and things I've never played before and will be fun for me."
Gomez, 19, who is set to wrap the South American leg of her We Own the Night tour on February 11 in Montevideo in Uruguay, will next start filming for Spring Breakers in Florida.
The film directed by Harmony Korine (famous for his timeless 90's movie "Kids"), is about female college students who finance their spring vacation by ripping off a restaurant, only to end up behind bars, where they become involved with the person who posts their bail, an arms and drug runner. Actors Vanessa Hudgens, James Franco, and Emma Roberts are also in the cast.
