Selena Gomez is taking a page from boyfriend Justin Bieber's playbook, concocting her own signature scent that hopefully will be as popular as Bieber's Someday eau. However, her desire to appeal to Bieber's olfactory sense may be behind some of her inspiration for the perfume. Apparently water is, too!
Gomez, donning a flowing gown, recently posed in a colorful water tank for a photo shoot that's rumored to be for her new, still top-secret self-titled fragrance, launching next year. The 19-year-old starlet is playing the fan card with this scent-sational new focus of her blossoming career, inviting her fans to help her create the top notes. And she must be banking on them having a good sense of smell for her sake!
Access Hollywood recently interviewed Selena Gomez, questioning her about her signature scent and just what Justin Bieber thinks his girl should smell like. However she demurred a bit, only saying, "To be honest, that's what every girl thinks -- that they want to smell good for the boy they like at school or for a crush. That's what the main thing is." However, she did admit that she wants her perfume to translate as "really romantic" and "sweet and sophisticated." It sounds like the perfect combination: romance to represent her relationship with Bieber, a touch of sweetness for her still-hard-to-shake Disney starlet image and enough sophistication to show she really is all grown up.
Hmm... Justin Bieber's fragrance may be facing some stiff competition when his girlfriend's new essence hits stores. In the meantime, Bieber is surely liking Gomez's scent just fine, as she surely spritzes on Someday and will continue to do so, that is until Selena Gomez the fragrance takes precedence on her vanity table. No doubt she'll still be irresistible in the eyes of Bieber, no matter what cloud of perfume she's floating in.
