In wearing the confection, the Disney starlet not only showed that she really is all grown up, but she also perpetuated a trend that's been making a comeback recently on red carpets around Tinseltown and beyond—the sexy slit. From thigh-high to risqué waist-grazing, the split-up-to-there gown is all about sultry appeal, something that not only Selena Gomez knows all too well, but also fellow entertainers like Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez, among others.
The slit is nothing new, but boundaries-pushing stars are resurrecting the look with amazing, enviable, and sometimes avant-garde (ahem, Gaga) garments. Jennifer Lopez has also embraced a really sexy wardrobe angle lately, from her veritable strip show at the AMAs to rocking several gowns with leg-bearing slits. On the set of her latest music video, J. Lo wore a green dress sliced so high it showed her unmentionables. A slightly less revealing moment had the Latin singer wearing an incredible cream Versace gown covered in leather petals at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards earlier this month. The statement-making look also featured a slit that showed off her equally incredible and toned left thigh. (She has no doubt captured Marc Anthony's attention, as well as that of fans everywhere with these ensembles.)
